Cricket run rate calculator
Work out the current scoring rate and the runs needed from the balls remaining. Enter overs as cricket notation: 10.2 means 62 legal balls.

The equation, not a prediction
96 runs from 58 balls
9 complete overs and 4 balls remain.
85 ÷ 62 × 6 = 8.23 current runs per over. Required: 96 ÷ 58 × 6 = 9.93.
How the calculation works
Current run rate is the score divided by legal balls faced, multiplied by six. Required run rate uses the runs still needed and legal balls still available. Wides and no-balls can add runs without using a legal ball.
For the worked example, 85 after 10.2 overs is 85 from 62 balls: 8.23 runs per over. Chasing 181 in 20 overs leaves 96 from 58 balls, a required rate of 9.93.
What does that score mean at the ground?
Compare the arithmetic with historical SA20 scores. A venue average gives context; it does not supply a target for the next match.
